Spectacular Debut and Valuable Pinch Hitter
We saw two members step up at this meeting. One was Yuko, who served as the Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD), the meeting emcee. The other was Yukari, who filled in for a prepared speech speaker with short notice.
Yuko is a relatively new member, joining the cub in May, and she made a spectacular debut as the TMOD. In the week before the meeting, she led the members in their preparation for the meeting, making sure everyone was aware and ready for their role. On the day of the meeting, she knew what to do when and facilitated the meeting smoothly, which is not easy to expect from a first-time TMOD. Well done, Yuko!!
Yukari, who stepped up as a substitute prepared speech speaker, took on the challenge of delivering a social speech with less than a week to prepare. The speech she delivered was a congratulatory speech after a kid's sports team's game. She touched upon how the team evolved over time, thanking people around the team. This was a well-organized speech to compliment the team members' accomplishments. Great job and thank you for stepping up. We value having three prepared speeches in our meetings because prepared speeches are at the center of our meetings and we learn the most from preparing for, delivering, listening to, appreciating, and providing feedback to these prepared speeches. At times, something comes up and a speaker has to cancel their commitment at the last minute. Having members who are ready to take on the challenge to pinch hit is a blessing.
