Themed Table Topics session
In the Table Topics session, where we practice impromptu speeches, the Topicsmaster, who facilitates the session, chose topics related to our busy lifestyle. The topics included how you relax in a short time, something you have missed due to the busy schedule, and the top priority in your life.
C.J. spoke on the topic of the top priority in your life. He opened his speech with an overly powerful greeting of "Hi!" The audience members answered "Hi," somewhat amused by the way he greeted them. Then, he started to talk about the unusual quality of the word "Hi" being one of the only two words in the English language that consist of any two alphabet letters back to back. It means the letter "h" is followed directly by the letter "i" in the alphabet. That opening grabbed the attention of the audience while having them wonder what it has anything with the topic.
He then moved on to introduce the other such word, which is "No." Just like in "Hi," the letter "n" is directly followed by the letter "o" in the alphabet. He moved into his main point of saying "no" to anything that is not a priority in his life. We need to have the courage to say "no" to something good to secure time for the best in our life. To him, the priority is himself and to secure time for himself he says no to what is not important to him. He encouraged the audience members to take the approach to be able to prioritize what really matters to them.
He concluded his speech with "Bye" rhyming with the very first word he uttered, "Hi" to make an impression on the audience. The speech impressed a lot of members in the audience and earned him the Best Table Topics Award of the day. Congratulations on delivering the speech and enlightening the attendees on how to structure an impressive impromptu speech.
