A meeting full of thrills
This was another meeting with fewer participants than usual. We had eight members and one guest. Despite the low attendance, this turned out to be a meeting full of thrills and learning.
Our Vice President Education, KJ, used his creativity and arranged to have one prepared speaker with six evaluators, three of whom were to evaluate the prepared speech with the remaining three evaluating their evaluation speeches. Normally, we have every roles assigned to members well ahead of the meeting, but to add some spice, we decided to do something thrilling. We held a drawing to decide on the roles on the spot. Here's how.
First, we had two roles assigned, Toastmaster of the Day, or the mecee of the meeting, and the prepared speaker. The remaining seven roles, the General Evaluator and six evaluators, were decided by drawing. It was like a miracle that three newer members drew the evaluator roles and four more experienced members drew the evaluator's evaluator roles or the General Evaluator role. What a surprise! Thankfully, two new members made their debut as evaluators.
The latter half of the meeting was devoted to Table Topics session in groups of three. Again, we had a drawing to decede who were grouped together. We provided topics, made speeches, and served as the Timer for these two rounds of Table Topics breakout sessions and had a lot of fun.
