During this Golden Week holiday, we had the privilege of welcoming a past district director. Now, you may be wondering what a district director does. Well, they serve the entire district, with the help of several division directors, who work with several area directors each, who support several clubs each. So, you can tell that a district director has a lot of responsibility.
Yet, this was nothing so special because we see this past district director quite often. Why? He is a member of our club! Huh? Is Nishinomiya TGIF a home club of a past district director? Yes and no. This particular past district director was a district director even before Nishinomiya TGIF was launched, in December 2016. He was a district director of District 93, which encompasses the entire country of South Korea. So, he is a past district director, but not of District 76, the district for Japan. He is an old friend of KJ, the founder of Nishinomniya TGIF, and he is now a member of our club.
He lives in Seoul and usually join our meetings online, but during this holiday, he visited Osaka and met some members. On this particular occasion on May 2, he met with President haruki, Vice President Education Mai, and Vice President Membership Hideo. We talked a lot about our interests, his business, and of course, Toastmasters. We had a great time, especially because we don't usually have much time to talk in depth about anything with him living far away from Nishinomiya.
He met with another club officer, Hiroshi, the following morning, but it was a pity that so many other members who wanted to meet him was unable to do so due to scheduling conflicts. He said he is hoping to come to Japan again soon to attend our meeting in person. We all look forward to it!
